In preparation for the fifth annual Lights on Stratford festival, a team of students from the University of Waterloo's Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business is developing an immersive interactive media project called "Echoes of Tomorrow," which will take participants to Stratford's natural environment. The installation is perfectly aligned with the Lights On Stratford festival's "Reimagine" theme, which promotes contemplation on the relationship between humans and the environment as well as ecological sustainability and aims to provide a thorough understanding of how both individual and group actions impact the environment. Participants can use mobile devices to control the digital world that is shown on a large projection screen. Through the use of touch and sound on their phones, the initiative enables users to interact with the ecosystem through random occurrences created by the system.
